I love playing wedding music with my ukulele in New York. Katie and Scott’s wedding was my first time at the United States Merchant Marine Academy located in Kings Point. The ceremony was held at Mariners’ Memorial Chapel built to commemorate the sacrifices of the officers and men of the U.S. Merchant Marine who gave their lives at sea in World Wars I and II.

It was a beautiful day to play ukulele for cocktail hour right by the water. The guests were kind and complimentary. Songs like Hene Hene Kou ‘AkaKu‘u Hoa, and Somewhere Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World received rave reviews.

Unfortunately, the bride and groom were busy taking photos during cocktail hour so missed the music. In the brief moment before entering the reception, the bride and groom made a special request of Jason Mraz’s I’m Yours which I happily played for them. What an unexpected treat to share a quiet moment with the newly married couple. And it was captured by their wedding photographer!
