One of Chatham’s most beloved musical traditions is returning.
On Saturday, February 20, 2027, the acclaimed Masters of Hawaiian Music Tour returns to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for an unforgettable evening of Hawaiian music, storytelling, and aloha. The concert features three of Hawaiʻi’s most celebrated musicians—George Kahumoku Jr., Sonny Lim, and Herb Ohta Jr.—whose performances have delighted audiences around the world.
This year’s concert marks a special milestone: George Kahumoku Jr. will be making his eleventh appearance in Chatham, a remarkable tradition that has made the town one of the favorite stops on the Masters of Hawaiian Music Tour.
Presented by Andy Wang Music, the annual concert has become much more than a performance. It is an opportunity to experience the warmth of Hawaiian culture through music, stories, and genuine hospitality—all while supporting the outreach ministries of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
The concert begins at 7:00 PM in the Parish Hall at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 200 Main Street, Chatham, New Jersey. Proceeds benefit St. Paul’s outreach programs, which serve families, children, and neighbors in need throughout the local community.
“It’s amazing to think this will be George’s eleventh visit to Chatham,” said organizer Andy Wang. “Over the years, George, Sonny, and Herb have become more than guest artists—they’ve become friends. Every concert is filled with incredible musicianship, laughter, and stories that leave audiences feeling as though they’ve spent an evening in Hawaiʻi. We look forward to welcoming them back once again.”
Meet the Artists
George Kahumoku Jr.
A four-time Grammy Award winner, George Kahumoku Jr. is affectionately known as “Hawaii’s Renaissance Man.” He is a master of Hawaiian slack key guitar, an accomplished vocalist, songwriter, storyteller, author, teacher, sculptor, farmer, and chef. George is also a multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner and one of Hawaiʻi’s foremost cultural ambassadors.
His performances are as memorable for his captivating stories and humor as they are for his extraordinary musicianship. Whether sharing the history behind a song or inviting audiences to laugh along with tales from island life, George creates an experience that is both entertaining and deeply personal.
Sonny Lim
An award-winning slack key guitarist, lap steel guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer, Sonny Lim developed his distinctive musical style performing with his family’s celebrated musical group on Hawaiʻi Island.
At just fifteen years old, Sonny joined the legendary Makaha Sons of Niʻihau as their lap steel guitarist. He later performed on the first Grammy Award-winning Hawaiian music album and has earned multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards for his acclaimed solo recordings.
Known for his soulful vocals, expressive guitar playing, and deep respect for Hawaiian musical traditions, Sonny is widely regarded as one of Hawaiʻi’s finest musicians.
Herb Ohta Jr.
Internationally recognized as one of the world’s premier ʻukulele virtuosos, Herb Ohta Jr. combines extraordinary technical ability with remarkable musical sensitivity.
The son of legendary ʻukulele master Ohta-San, Herb has developed his own signature style that blends traditional Hawaiian music with jazz, pop, and contemporary influences. His effortless musicianship, lyrical interpretations, and warm stage presence have captivated audiences throughout Hawaiʻi, Japan, and the mainland United States.
Whether performing beloved Hawaiian classics or original arrangements, Herb demonstrates why the ʻukulele is one of the world’s most expressive instruments.
