“To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts.” Henry David Thoreau

The Asian American Arts Alliance (a4) is dedicated to strengthening Asian American artists and arts/cultural groups in New York City so it was with great excitement that Marina and I performed at the organization’s 30th Anniversary Gala with honorees Deepak Chopra (author), Vishakha N. Desai (CEO of Asia Society), Fred Ho (Baritone Saxophonist), and Christine Toy Johnson (Actor, Playwright, Filmmaker.)

I had attended prior a4 galas but never dreamed of being an “artist” at this wonderful event. It was amazing to be invited, but even doubly so since Marina and I were asked to open and close the program. It was a privilege to present authentic Hawaiian music and hula to supporters of the arts in New York City. It was a lovely evening celebrating creatives and artists. Thank you to the a4 board members, honorees, and guests.
