“In the way of righteousness is life,
And in its pathway there is no death.”
Proverbs 12:28

It was a tough week for Hawaiian music. We lost two incredible talents, Uncle Dennis Kamakahi and Chino Montero. My friend Kāwika Kahiapo said it best, “I just gotta get over the fact that Dennis and Chino got booked on an earlier flight.”

Last Friday night, I had a quiet moment with my guitar tuned to Uncle Dennis’ C mauna loa tuning and this is what came out. My prayers and condolences to each of their families.

I am glad to have connected with Uncle Dennis Kamakahi in Pahala last year. This is a photo of us jamming a few songs. We talked about music, his family, and his plans for retirement. Over the years, I had seen him perform many times, broke bread, and shared stories. His music lives on!
