The first gig after a 14-month long pandemic break was a great one! More than 200 people gathered in Spiotta Park to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

It was a beautiful day to share aloha, hula, and Hawaiian music in celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities and bring awareness to #StopAsianHate.

The hula dancers of Pua Aliʻi ʻIlima o Nuioka, a dance group out of New York City, are cultural practitioners and always fabulous.

Thank you to event organizer Anna Liza Montenegro, co-sponsor SOMA Cross Cultural Works, South Orange Village President Sheena Collum, Maplewood Mayor Frank McGehee, and co-sponsor Carol Velez Fardin.
