Hawaiians take their food seriously so I was especially delighted to work with the Hawaii Restaurant Association to provide entertainment at the James Beard House in New York City. Having Chef Mavrothalassitis and Chef Wong in town from Honolulu on my birthday was a gift in itself. Playing Hawaiian songs was icing on the cake!
For this event, Claudia Goddard and I were hired has a duo. Hawaiian slack key guitar, ukulele, and two vocals. Harmonies in Hawaiian music are so beautiful and the two of us had so much fun singing a variety of sweet Hawaiian melodies throughout cocktail hour. Thank you to my fellow musician Claudia, everyone at the Hawaii Restaurant Association, and the James Beard Foundation. I even got to meet as-seen-on-TV chef Sarah Moulton.
