The Hapa experience at the Danny Kaye Playhouse Saturday evening was kicked off by the master of ceremonies & Surfer, Peter Fonda, who authenticated the Hawaiian event with his own unique Waikiki experience that was moving.
The dynamic duo of Irishman Barry Flanagan & Hawaiian Nathan Aweau did not disappoint performing in flawless fashion running up & down the fretboard with great ease yet in a manner that could certainly put you to sleep as is the case with a gentle sea breeze or the cascading sounds of an ocean in motion.
Local talent Andy Wang, a former student of Barry Flanagan & Kihoalu artist, showcased his skills speaking & playing effortlessly with Hapa & for me, I could feel Andy’s excitement since it’s a high honor & especially for all of the work that he & his wife have done for the local Hawaiian community & the motherland in Hawaii promoting Polynesian culture with great pride & enthusiasm that is flat out priceless! I predict that Andy’s musical career will take off tenfold with the experience. Hana hou Andy!
